Be aware, though, that the instructions warn of a sulphur smell while fermenting, and call for 12 weeks of bottle conditioning before drinking. I don't have that kind of beer patience! I didn't notice any sulphur smell at all. The result is a very nice, drinkable beer, beautiful color and head, but on the whole I will probably stick with ales in future. The flavor of this European lager just isn't as interesting as, say, Coopers Australian Pale Ale (but of course, still better than most commercial swill). Like all the Coopers kits, this is very easy to make, practically foolproof. Be aware, though, that the instructions warn of a sulphur smell while fermenting, and call for 12 weeks of bottle conditioning before drinking. I don’t have that kind of beer patience! I didn’t notice any sulphur smell at all. The result is a very nice, drinkable beer, beautiful color and head, but on the whole I will probably stick with ales in future.
