That should be an interesting combo. I’ve never tried the IPA with a Bitter, but an IPA with the Australian PA a few times with good results. I agree with Craig about not boiling these. I also agree with spears104 about these kits (at least the IPA) already containing enough bitterness, and using the cascade pellets to dry hop with (in the secondary only). Alone, the IPA gives a light hoppy bitterness, the English Bitter – toffee notes. Interested in seeing the review of this pairing! Cheers!
Make sure you DO NOT boil those Coopers kits. Unless you’re going to dry hop, I would boil up the liquid malt you have there in about half gallon of water for about 10 minutes and add those hops for the last 4 minutes or less. Then make your kits with that.
The cooper’s kits, especially the ipa, has a lot of bitterness already, but like most canned kits have no hop flavour or aroma. If you only have 1 oz, I suggest you used the cascades to dry hop. this will give you some nice IPA like flavour and aroma and add a real freshness to the beer.
Hi Jake. Happy HBW. Those ingredients should make up a really great beer. Both those kits are good beers just on their own, so mixing them + some grain & hops, could only turn out even better
Jake, to get the most bitterness out of the hops, you need to put them in during the full boil. If you throw them in the last 30 to 60 seconds, it will only add aroma. Cheers, 17!
Looking forward to seeing your IPA should turn out great! I would boil the hops in for the last 10 mins with the small tub of malt extract. It wont make it more bitter but it will infuse the flavor right in. Cheers

The longer your hops are in the boil the more bitters you will get.

You should dry-hop your brew with those cascade hops!

and two of my favorite coopers kits with extra grains, LME and hops… I look forward to seeing how that brews up. Nice
I have a package of the turbo yeast in the cupboard. I’ll have to try it soon…
